Pinsgo Privacy Policy

Pinsgo is a macOS application that helps users translate or adjust selected text, typed text, and text recognized from screenshots. This Privacy Policy explains what information Pinsgo processes, when that information leaves your device, and what choices you have.

Effective date: 2026-04-16 Contact: pinsgo_feedback@yunyanfeature.com

1. About Pinsgo

Pinsgo is maintained by the Pinsgo team as a macOS app for translation, OCR, and writing refinement.

For privacy questions or data requests, email pinsgo_feedback@yunyanfeature.com.

2. Information we process

Pinsgo processes different categories of information depending on which features you use.

A. Text you choose to translate or adjust

This may include:

  • text you type or paste into the app for translation or text adjustment;
  • text you select in other apps when using selection-based translation or adjustment; and
  • text recognized from screenshots when using screenshot/OCR translation or adjustment.

Pinsgo processes this text to generate a translation, rewrite, or text-adjustment result. Depending on the feature and source you use, this text may be processed on-device, sent to Pinsgo's built-in cloud service, or sent to a third-party cloud translation or text service that you choose to use.

B. Screenshots used for OCR

If you use screenshot translation or adjustment, Pinsgo may capture a user-selected portion of your screen and temporarily create a local image file so macOS/Vision OCR can recognize text from it. These temporary image files are deleted after processing.

C. Configuration and secrets

Pinsgo may store the following locally on your device:

  • your selected translation source and language preferences;
  • feature settings such as hotkeys and UI preferences;
  • custom API endpoints or related configuration you set; and
  • API keys or similar credentials for third-party services you choose to connect.

Secrets are stored in the macOS Keychain where supported.

D. Permissions and device state

When relevant features are enabled, Pinsgo may check whether macOS permissions such as Accessibility or Screen Recording have been granted. Pinsgo uses these checks only to enable requested features and does not use them for advertising.

E. Built-in service account and entitlement data

If you use Pinsgo's built-in cloud translation or text-adjustment service, or subscription-gated features, Pinsgo may process and store limited account and entitlement data, including:

  • a pseudonymous app/user identifier generated by the app;
  • authentication and session information needed to sign you in to built-in services;
  • subscription or entitlement status;
  • product identifier, transaction identifier, original transaction identifier, expiration date, and environment information related to StoreKit/App Store purchases;
  • free-tier usage counters and trial status needed to enforce limits and prevent abuse; and
  • security records related to account protection, fraud prevention, and subscription verification.

F. Product interaction and service performance data

Pinsgo may process limited data about how built-in features and services are used, such as selected translation sources, subscription or entitlement check results, free-tier quota consumption, request status, and service response timing. We use this information to provide app functionality, maintain service performance, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.

G. Support communications

If you contact us, we may process your email address and the information you include in the message.

3. How we use information

We use information only as needed to:

  • provide translation, text adjustment, and OCR features;
  • route requests to the translation source you selected;
  • authenticate access to built-in services;
  • verify subscriptions, restore purchases, and apply entitlements;
  • process user-submitted text content in order to complete translation requests;
  • understand product interactions such as quota usage and feature access state;
  • maintain service performance, reliability, and security;
  • enforce free-tier limits, prevent abuse, and maintain service security;
  • store your settings and credentials locally;
  • respond to support requests; and
  • comply with legal obligations.

4. When information leaves your device

Whether your data leaves your device depends on the feature and translation source you use.

Local-only processing

Some processing may stay on-device, such as:

  • local settings storage;
  • Keychain storage for secrets;
  • permission checks;
  • OCR performed through local Apple frameworks; and
  • use of Apple/system translation features, subject to Apple's own implementation and policies.

Third-party service mode

If you configure and use a third-party service, Pinsgo may send the text you want translated or adjusted and the credentials required for that service directly from your device to that service's endpoint. Your use of that service is also subject to the provider's own terms and privacy policy.

Pinsgo built-in cloud service

If you use the built-in Pinsgo translation or text-adjustment service, your request may be sent through Pinsgo-operated backend services, including authentication and translation gateway services, and then to third-party cloud translation infrastructure or services used to fulfill the request. These third-party services may include services provided by Alibaba Cloud and other third-party infrastructure or translation service providers. In that mode, Pinsgo may process:

  • the text submitted for translation or adjustment;
  • pseudonymous user/app identifiers;
  • account and session information;
  • entitlement and purchase verification data; and
  • quota, product interaction, or service performance data.

Pinsgo does not state that all built-in-service traffic is permanently stored. However, service infrastructure may temporarily process data in memory, in transit, in logs limited to operational or security needs, or through third-party services needed to fulfill the request.

5. Third parties we may share information with

Depending on how you use Pinsgo, information may be shared with:

  • Apple, including macOS system frameworks, StoreKit, and Apple services used for purchase validation or subscription handling;
  • third-party translation or cloud services that you enable or configure, including services that may be provided by Alibaba Cloud;
  • infrastructure providers used to operate Pinsgo's built-in backend services, such as Cloudflare-hosted services; and
  • law enforcement or regulators where required by law.

Pinsgo does not sell personal information and does not use your information for third-party advertising.

6. Data retention

Pinsgo retains data for different periods depending on the data type and purpose:

  • temporary screenshot files used for OCR are deleted after processing;
  • locally stored settings and Keychain items remain until you remove them, reset the app, or uninstall it;
  • short-lived authentication artifacts are retained only as long as needed for sign-in, security, and session management;
  • entitlement, purchase, quota, and audit records may be retained for as long as needed to operate subscriptions, prevent fraud or abuse, resolve disputes, and meet legal or accounting requirements; and
  • support communications may be retained as needed to respond to you and keep a support history.

7. Your choices and controls

You can:

  • choose which translation source to use;
  • avoid third-party service mode by not configuring those services;
  • remove or rotate connected service credentials in the app;
  • disable accessibility-based or screenshot-based features by turning them off or revoking macOS permissions;
  • use system/local features only, where available; and
  • contact us to request deletion of backend account, entitlement, or support data associated with your use of Pinsgo.

If you request deletion, we may need to retain limited information where required for security, fraud prevention, accounting, tax, chargeback handling, or legal compliance.

8. Security

Pinsgo uses reasonable safeguards designed to protect information, including:

  • macOS Keychain storage for secrets where applicable;
  • HTTPS/TLS for supported network requests;
  • pseudonymous identifiers instead of direct real-name accounts by default; and
  • access controls and other security measures for certain built-in services, where supported.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International data transfers

Because third-party translation services and infrastructure providers may operate in multiple countries, information processed through Pinsgo may be transferred to and processed outside your country or region.

10. Children's privacy

Pinsgo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
